PhotoJAR

My first Wordpress plugin, PhotoJAR: Base (beta), is ready for consumption! If you have a Wordpress-based website/blog, please try it out. PhotoJAR: Base provides a number of enhancements to the Wordpress 2.5 gallery functionality:

  • Dynamically resizes thumbnails - changes to image sizes apply retroactively
  • Allows custom image sizes (beyond “thumbnail” and “medium”)
  • Caches resized images
  • Integrates with LightBox, ThickBox, LightView, and many more javascript image viewers
  • Provides an shortcode
  • Can change the default number of columns in a gallery

Download Here. Thanks in advance to all who check it out!

Interesting. I’ve been looking for something that still uses the core functionality but better without the addition of other plugins to make it work OR worse yet standalones such as Gallery2, etc.

Is there a widget planned in the future to show recent photos on main page?

I plan on putting this into use this week. Thanks

Thanks for using the plugin. I like the idea of a recent photos widget. I will add that to my list of enhancements.

    hey,
the description of this plugin sounds very good!

But: I’ve some problems with PJ:

    1.) It needs PHP5 (I didn’t read this in the install-decription) - OK, I´ve changed my server to PHP5.
Now the plugin could be installed and configured - Wow… BUT:

2.) When I try to work with the plugin, even when I try to upload photos there comes up a ERROR-Message:
“Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /mnt/web2/(…)/wp-content/plugins/pj-base/pj-image-resize.php on line 56″
What could went wrong with the plugin???

    My Configuration:

    - WordPress 2.5.1
    - PHP 5.2.2
    - PJ-Base Version 1.0b1 and
    - PJ-Base Version 1.0b2
    - lightbox-2.2.7.5

I’d be very happy, if you could help me
    Best Regards
    Georg

I must be doing something wrong because my images aren’t showing up at all. Although they’re trying to load, for some reason you can’t see them.

Would you be able to help?

  6. JARinteractive Says:

Due to naming differences with the downloads from the Wordpress, org repository you may need to reset the PhotoJAR cache path and cache URL when upgrading from beta-1. To do this, set PhotoJAR Cache Path and PhotoJAR Cache URL to their default values (displayed immediately below the text boxes for each setting). The PhotoJAR: Base directory name has changed from ‘pj-base’ to ‘photojar-base’. This should not be an issue with any future updates.

I have been working with Georg to investigate his errors (Thank you for your time and patience, Georg). We have found that there is a conflict between Wordpress 2.5 and the PodPress plugin. I will improve the error handling and update the documentation with Beta-3.
