PhotoJAR Updates…

August 20th, 2008

PhotoJAR: Post Thumbnailer is now available for download. This is the plugin I am using on this blog to display gallery thumbnails on posts. The highlight feature is the display of a full gallery via Lightbox (or other viewer) when the thumbnail is clicked.

PhotoJAR: Base is also updated with many code improvements and a couple minor features. The linkto parameter can now be set to “viewer”, “default”, etc. to override the PhotoJAR settings on an individual gallery or image. The settings page has some minor organizational improvements. Also new: PhotoJAR will only display images in a viewer if it was added via an [image] or [gallery] tag.

Carnival Abstracts - July 2008

July 12th, 2008
Starship2K

A collection of photos from the 4th of July Carnival in Rolla, MO. This year I spent most of my photography time at the Starship 2000 ride. There is also a new take on the Octopus (my main focus last year - see one from last year in the Abstract gallery).

PhotoJAR

July 3rd, 2008

My first Wordpress plugin, PhotoJAR: Base (beta), is ready for consumption! If you have a Wordpress-based website/blog, please try it out. PhotoJAR: Base provides a number of enhancements to the Wordpress 2.5 gallery functionality:

  • Dynamically resizes thumbnails - changes to image sizes apply retroactively
  • Allows custom image sizes (beyond “thumbnail” and “medium”)
  • Caches resized images
  • Integrates with LightBox, ThickBox, LightView, and many more javascript image viewers
  • Provides an shortcode
  • Can change the default number of columns in a gallery

Download Here. Thanks in advance to all who check it out!

Wedding: Allison & Josh

June 17th, 2008
Allison & Josh

Allison and Josh were married on June 7th. I took the camera along and took a few photos while staying out of the way of the official photographer. Grandma had what she would call “a drinking problem,” which I kindly captured for posterity.

Wedding: Caitlin & Chase

June 16th, 2008
Caitlin & Chase

On May 31st, I had the pleasure of shooting Caitlin and Chase’s wedding with my good friend Bekah. These are a few of my photos from the day. The wedding was held in our college town, with an outdoor reception at a nearby camp. Each table had crayons and Caitlin & Chase pages to color on!

A couple notes about the gallery: Chase has been in a few metal/hardcore bands. Bekah gets credit for having them give us “the finger” (no, not that finger).

The Return of the JAR

June 15th, 2008

For the past year JARinteractive.com has been a bit lonely, but today it is reborn. The first fruits of the PhotoJAR project will be available in the very near future. The gallery is updated. Here is a quick (non-comprehensive) list of what happened since the last post:

  • Marriage
  • House Purchase
  • PhotoJAR Development
  • “Suffer (4NForm mix)” featured on the Echoing Green’s “Suffer EP

If anybody actually reads this, check back soon for more!

Paper Route

May 4th, 2007

Apparently some of the guys from For All The Drifters (well known to all of you GC folks) have started a new project called Paper Route and have an EP out. This is probably old news, but it is new to me!

PHP Editor Change

March 3rd, 2007

Eclipse has become a decent PHP editor since the last time I tried it for that purpose. Install the PDT project and its dependencies within Eclipse. PDT features code completion for both PHP functions and all user defined classes/variables/functions contained in the project (or defined on the “include path”). It also provides and easy one-click method of uploading all of your changes to a synchronized directory on your webserver via FTP.

Free NHL? Yes!

October 17th, 2006

Last December I posted about the NHL not offering free, live NHL video coverage on the internet. Well, this season it appears that Yahoo! has come to the rescue. Yahoo! Sports is offering is offering free game coverage for various games. I can’t figure out how they decide which games to cover, but at least they ar showing some. Hopefully they will be showing some Avs games before too long…in the meantime I’ll be enjoying the games they are showing.

Bling

September 13th, 2006

I was watching the news this morning and heard a piece on cell phone “bling.” Upscale brands are customizing phones for people who want (and can afford) to show off with their cell phones to the highest degree. One cell phone company representative stated “What fun is it to be rich if you don’t have a way to show it off?” That seems to be the epitome of American culture today… Appear richer, smarter, and more popular and enjoy the thought that everyone is jealous. I guess that is what “the pursuit of happiness” has become.
