Disney has officially anounced their long-rumored purchase of Pixar. Is this good for Disney animation or bad for Pixar? Hopefully putting Pixar’s incredible John Lasseter in charge of creativity (chief creative officer) will keep the new Disney/Pixar productions to a high standard. If Pixar’s legendary corporate culture survives the aquisition I think we can still look forward to more great films out of them. Steve Jobs will also be on Disney’s board. What kind of impact will he have?

The Green Bay Packers have added a former Greenville College football coach to their staff as the “Offensive Quality Control” coach. This comes as a part of the Packers recent head coaching change. Ty Knott coached at GC in 2001 and has prior NFL experience, as well.

Today I ran across this side project of The Echoing Green. Pristina is a group of female vocalists (including Sarah Masen, Crissy Jeter from EG, and others) teamed up with writer/producer Joey B. of the EG. All of the vocalists except Crissy have a folk or rock background, making for an interesing synthpop sound. If you like synthpop check out pristinamusic.com and their first single.

It appears that Microsoft has decided to distribute Flip4Mac in place of their own Windows Media Player for Macintosh. Flip4Mac has been superior to WMP for Mac in most ways anyway, so it is nice that Microsoft is now giving it away for free through an agreement with the developer. It seems that it does have trouble with the internet radio stations I have tried though (RadioU, Cross Rhythms).

Tomorrow marks this year’s MacWorld Expo Keynote, where Steve will introduce the latest Apple products from underneath the secretive shroud that surrounds 1 Infinite Loop. This year one of the major predictions is a media center Mac Mini. That doesn’t make sense to me. The Mac Mini is positioned to be an inexpensive Mac to entice possible switchers. I think Apple might introduce a separate media center mac. It could be slightly larger than a Mac Mini, containing a desktop hardrive with more space and performance than the laptop drive present in the Mini. It could also have room for audio/video connections (not just the basic VGA/DVI and 1/8 inch stereo jack). Will it happen? Probably not, but it seems more logical than the Mini media center to me…
